The Wheels To Work scheme runs throughout the County of Leicestershire and Rutland including the city of Leicester. The schemes in the city and the county are slightly different. If you both live and work in the city,you come under the city scheme. In any other circumstances, you come under the county scheme.
Scheme Eligibility County Scheme
We provide 2 basic scooters; a 50cc moped for short distances (less than 10 miles each way) and a 125cc scooter for longer distances. We also can offer both electric scooters and electric bicycles.
We provide the rider with a helmet, jacket, gloves and lock, and the scooter is fully expensed (insurance, service costs, vehicle tax and accidental repairs) with the exception of fuel.
Are you currently an apprentice, in higher education or training, or employed an live over 2 miles away?
Do you have your provisional driver's licence?
Is there no direct public transport link between you and your destination?
Do you start/finish at a time when public transport is no longer an option? (e.g. working at a bar/restaurant or working shifts)
Do you live in Leicestershire or Rutland? (Including the City Centre)
Are you 16-60 years of age?
Scheme Eligibility Access Fund Scheme
We provide electric scooters, electric bicycles or pedal bikes. The choice of vehicle will depend on the journey distance and terrain. You will need to buy public liability insurance (Approx £10/Annum) before you can ride one of the bicycles or electric bicyles.
Be aged 16 years and over
Have official documentation to prove your I.D.
Have no direct public transport link between home and your destination
Live over 1 mile away from your place of work or training (flexible, if late night finish)
Have an offer of employment, education or training in place.
